Hashtag

(Mashup) is a site that integrates someone else's service. For example, they often build a site using Google Maps. Takes the service Google Maps, becomes part of your site, and you add fishing spots, as here. Twitter is very easy to integrate into your site, link to it, because there are a lot of messengers with Twitter.

Follow

(Follow) - the English word translated how to follow. It means to subscribe to someone's news. Subscribe to me and my news will appear in your account. If you don't like it, you can easily unsubscribe.

Follower

someone who follows your tweets and Twitter account, your "subscriber" or follower.

Following-

the person you're watching, and the process of subscribing to other Twitter users.

Masswording

mass tweet subscription of other users indiscriminately, usually used by spammers.

# sign

The lattice sign "#" (also known as a sharp (muse)) is intended to denote a word as a key one if it stands before that word. Binding from this sign and the word gives a concept as "hashtag".

@reply

The dog symbol "@" (teddy bears) is used to indicate a response to a user. For example, if d_medvedev asks a question about how to get a country out of crisis, the answer will look like this: @d_medvedev "Don't worry, let's break through" or something like that. Remember, when you use @reply, the answer will be visible to everyone. For a private message, use direct message(s).

140 characters

Tweets are initially assumed to be short, so the tweeter has a limit of 140 characters per message. Most people do not even go beyond the 140-character limit. Another reason is the use of snipper URLs, which are below.

Block

Blocking a certain user prevents them from following you. You can block a person by clicking on "Block" in the sydbar on their page.

d

Update tweets from your mobile phone: you can send tweets from your mobile phone via regular SMS. The text of the message should look like this (using my tweet as an example): "d unglued sixty characters for Russian text is quite small", then send this SMS to +44 7624 801423 (if you are in Russia). The message reaches you in seconds.

Direct Messages

You can send a direct message (or a personal message) from Twitter by typing "d " in the text field.

DM

It's a kind of personal message, similar to email. You can only send such messages to the people who follow you. All you need to do is click on the "message" link in the addressee's sided bar or from the "Direct Messages" menu on your own page. Again, only 140 characters are available. You can also send automatic private messages, for example as a greeting to a new follower, using the free service TweetLater. Remember that you cannot send such messages to people who are not following you, even if you are following them. This is a spam protection in the Titter.

FAV

You can place a user in favorites. To do this, type "FAV ". Thus, all subsequent tweets from this person will automatically be marked with an asterisk and placed in favorites.

Feed

All your messages are usually placed in your RSS feed and chronology page. This is the feed.

FOLLOW username

It's a phone team. A message sent with this command tells Twitter to follow a specific user.

Followers

Followers are people who read your posts.

Geographical location of last posts.

A team to receive all the latest messages from a person.

Hashtags

Hashtags such as #BSG (Battlestar Galactica) define groups on Twitter. You can follow these groups (hashtags) in real time at Hashtags.org. They were specifically created for tweeter groups. In order to start following the hashtag, you must follow @hashtags on Twitter. They will follow you automatically. Hashtags became very popular during the San Diego fire. Back then, Nate Ritter used #sandiegofire to organize his messages. The site now tracks all such hashtags in real time.

INVITE

This team will send an invitation to a specific number.

LEAVE username

Telephone team. Means you want to stop following a certain person.

Locking Your Profile

Closing your profile. You can close your profile so that only your friends can see your messages. To do this, go to your profile settings and check the "Protect My Updates" box at the bottom of the first page. This may deprive you of followers who can follow you by searching for your messages. Closing your profile is useful if you want to use Twitter, but want to avoid publicity. Even celebrities have public profiles, but this is understandable.

Microblog

Twitter is a microblogging. Shorter and faster version of the blog.

mistweet

Same thing as "mistell," the term comes from online games. It's a random or erroneous message. You can remove this tweet from your page, but it will still be seen by those who follow you.

Reminds a certain user to write something.

off-Twitter

Offline option, usually used for other means of communication with a person, by phone or ICQ.

OFF

Telephone team. Disables all messages that come to your phone.

Telephone team. Includes all messages that come to your phone.

ON username

Telephone team. Includes all messages from a specific user that come to your phone.

ReporTwitters

Tweets of journalists talking about their articles and work.

RT/Retweeting

Something like a quote when you tweet someone's tweet. That's the kind of tweet you have to look like: "RT #<user name of tweet author> << tweet text>". This indicates that this is not your tweet, but a quote or reprint, and puts the username on your tweet. This way, anyone can follow the author of this tweet if they want to.

Go to the search page search.twitter.com to find tweets for a specific keyword.

STATS

This command shows the number of people that you follow, the people that follow you, and the words that you track.

TinyURL

The name of the most popular service for shortening links. With its help, you can reduce the length of the link and use it in your tweets. The service is located here tinyurl.com. There are quite a few such services, but this one is used most often.
