η ^G2228 αγνοειτε ^G50 ^G5719 αδελφοι ^G80 γινωσκουσιν ^G1097 ^G5723 γαρ ^G1063 νομον ^G3551 λαλω ^G2980 ^G5719 οτι ^G3754 ο ^G3588 νομος ^G3551 κυριευει ^G2961 ^G5719 του ^G3588 ανθρωπου ^G444 εφ ^G1909 οσον ^G3745 χρονον ^G5550 ζη ^G2198 ^G5719	1	Or^G2228 do you not know,^G50 brethren^G80 (for I am speaking^G2980 to those who know^G1097 the law^G3551), that the law^G3551 has^G2961 jurisdiction^G2961 over^G2961 a person^G444 as long^G5550 as he lives^G2198?
η ^G3588 γαρ ^G1063 υπανδρος ^G5220 γυνη ^G1135 τω ^G3588 ζωντι ^G2198 ^G5723 ανδρι ^G435 δεδεται ^G1210 ^G5769 νομω ^G3551 εαν ^G1437 δε ^G1161 αποθανη ^G599 ^G5632 ο ^G3588 ανηρ ^G435 κατηργηται ^G2673 ^G5769 απο ^G575 του ^G3588 νομου ^G3551 του ^G3588 ανδρος ^G435	2	For the married^G5220 woman^G1135 is bound^G1210 by law^G3551 to her husband^G435 while he is living;^G2198 but if^G1437 her husband^G435 dies,^G599 she is released^G2673 from the law^G3551 concerning the husband.^G435

οτε ^G3753 γαρ ^G1063 ημεν ^G1510 ^G5713 εν ^G1722 τη ^G3588 σαρκι ^G4561 τα ^G3588 παθηματα ^G3804 των ^G3588 αμαρτιων ^G266 τα ^G3588 δια ^G1223 του ^G3588 νομου ^G3551 ενηργειτο ^G1754 ^G5710 εν ^G1722 τοις ^G3588 μελεσιν ^G3196 ημων ^G2257 εις ^G1519 το ^G3588 καρποφορησαι ^G2592 ^G5658 τω ^G3588 θανατω ^G2288	5	For while^G3753 we were in the flesh,^G4561 the sinful^G266 passions,^G3804 which were [aroused] by the Law,^G3551 were at work^G1754 in the members^G3196 of our body to bear^G2592 fruit^G2592 for death.^G2288
νυνι ^G3570 δε ^G1161 κατηργηθημεν ^G2673 ^G5681 απο ^G575 του ^G3588 νομου ^G3551 {VAR1: αποθανοντες ^G599 ^G5631 } {VAR2: αποθανοντος ^G599 ^G5631 } εν ^G1722 ω ^G3739 κατειχομεθα ^G2722 ^G5712 ωστε ^G5620 δουλευειν ^G1398 ^G5721 ημας ^G2248 εν ^G1722 καινοτητι ^G2538 πνευματος ^G4151 και ^G2532 ου ^G3756 παλαιοτητι ^G3821 γραμματος ^G1121	6	But now^G3570 we have been released^G2673 from the Law,^G3551 having died^G599 to that by which^G3739 we were bound,^G2722 so^G5620 that we serve^G1398 in newness^G2538 of the Spirit^G4151 and not in oldness^G3821 of the letter.^G1121
τι ^G5101 ουν ^G3767 ερουμεν ^G2046 ^G5692 ο ^G3588 νομος ^G3551 αμαρτια ^G266 μη ^G3361 γενοιτο ^G1096 ^G5636 αλλα ^G235 την ^G3588 αμαρτιαν ^G266 ουκ ^G3756 εγνων ^G1097 ^G5627 ει ^G1487 μη ^G3361 δια ^G1223 νομου ^G3551 την ^G3588 τε ^G5037 γαρ ^G1063 επιθυμιαν ^G1939 ουκ ^G3756 ηδειν ^G1492 ^G5715 ει ^G1487 μη ^G3361 ο ^G3588 νομος ^G3551 ελεγεν ^G3004 ^G5707 ουκ ^G3756 επιθυμησεις ^G1937 ^G5692	7	What^G5101 shall we say^G3004 then^G3767? Is the Law^G3551 sin^G266? May it never^G3361 be! On the contrary,^G235 I would not have come to know^G1097 sin^G266 except^G1508 through^G1223 the Law;^G3551 for I would not have known^G3609 about^G3609 coveting^G1939 if^G1487 the Law^G3551 had not said,^G3004 "You shall not covet.^G1937"
αφορμην ^G874 δε ^G1161 λαβουσα ^G2983 ^G5631 η ^G3588 αμαρτια ^G266 δια ^G1223 της ^G3588 εντολης ^G1785 κατειργασατο ^G2716 ^G5662 εν ^G1722 εμοι ^G1698 πασαν ^G3956 επιθυμιαν ^G1939 χωρις ^G5565 γαρ ^G1063 νομου ^G3551 αμαρτια ^G266 νεκρα ^G3498	8	But sin,^G266 taking^G2983 opportunity^G874 through^G1223 the commandment,^G1785 produced^G2716 in me coveting^G1939 of every^G3956 kind;^G3956 for apart^G5565 from the Law^G3551 sin^G266 [is] dead.^G3498
εγω ^G1473 δε ^G1161 εζων ^G2198 ^G5707 χωρις ^G5565 νομου ^G3551 ποτε ^G4218 ελθουσης ^G2064 ^G5631 δε ^G1161 της ^G3588 εντολης ^G1785 η ^G3588 αμαρτια ^G266 ανεζησεν ^G326 ^G5656 εγω ^G1473 δε ^G1161 απεθανον ^G599 ^G5627	9	And I was once^G4218 alive^G2198 apart^G5565 from the Law;^G3551 but when the commandment^G1785 came,^G2064 sin^G266 became^G326 alive,^G326 and I died;^G599
και ^G2532 ευρεθη ^G2147 ^G5681 μοι ^G3427 η ^G3588 εντολη ^G1785 η ^G3588 εις ^G1519 ζωην ^G2222 αυτη ^G3778 εις ^G1519 θανατον ^G2288	10	and this^G3778 commandment,^G1785 which was to result^G1519 in life,^G2222 proved^G2147 to result^G1519 in death^G2288 for me;
η ^G3588 γαρ ^G1063 αμαρτια ^G266 αφορμην ^G874 λαβουσα ^G2983 ^G5631 δια ^G1223 της ^G3588 εντολης ^G1785 εξηπατησεν ^G1818 ^G5656 με ^G3165 και ^G2532 δι ^G1223 αυτης ^G846 απεκτεινεν ^G615 ^G5656	11	for sin,^G266 taking^G2983 opportunity^G874 through^G1223 the commandment,^G1785 deceived^G1818 me, and through^G1223 it killed^G615 me.
ωστε ^G5620 ο ^G3588 μεν ^G3303 νομος ^G3551 αγιος ^G40 και ^G2532 η ^G3588 εντολη ^G1785 αγια ^G40 και ^G2532 δικαια ^G1342 και ^G2532 αγαθη ^G18	12	So^G5620 then,^G5620 the Law^G3551 is holy,^G40 and the commandment^G1785 is holy^G40 and righteous^G1342 and good.^G18
το ^G3588 ουν ^G3767 αγαθον ^G18 εμοι ^G1698 γεγονεν ^G1096 ^G5754 θανατος ^G2288 μη ^G3361 γενοιτο ^G1096 ^G5636 αλλα ^G235 η ^G3588 αμαρτια ^G266 ινα ^G2443 φανη ^G5316 ^G5652 αμαρτια ^G266 δια ^G1223 του ^G3588 αγαθου ^G18 μοι ^G3427 κατεργαζομενη ^G2716 ^G5740 θανατον ^G2288 ινα ^G2443 γενηται ^G1096 ^G5638 καθ ^G2596 υπερβολην ^G5236 αμαρτωλος ^G268 η ^G3588 αμαρτια ^G266 δια ^G1223 της ^G3588 εντολης ^G1785	13	Therefore^G3767 did that which^G18 is good^G18 become^G1096 [a cause of] death^G2288 for me? May it never^G3361 be! Rather^G235 it was sin,^G266 in order^G2443 that it might be shown^G5316 to be sin^G266 by effecting^G2716 my death^G2288 through^G1223 that which^G18 is good,^G18 that through^G1223 the commandment^G1785 sin^G266 might become^G1096 utterly^G5236 sinful.^G266
οιδαμεν ^G1492 ^G5758 γαρ ^G1063 οτι ^G3754 ο ^G3588 νομος ^G3551 πνευματικος ^G4152 εστιν ^G2076 ^G5748 εγω ^G1473 δε ^G1161 σαρκικος ^G4559 ειμι ^G1510 ^G5748 πεπραμενος ^G4097 ^G5772 υπο ^G5259 την ^G3588 αμαρτιαν ^G266	14	For we know^G3609 that the Law^G3551 is spiritual;^G4152 but I am^G1510 of flesh,^G4560 sold^G4097 into bondage to sin.^G266
ο ^G3739 γαρ ^G1063 κατεργαζομαι ^G2716 ^G5736 ου ^G3756 γινωσκω ^G1097 ^G5719 ου ^G3756 γαρ ^G1063 ο ^G3739 θελω ^G2309 ^G5719 τουτο ^G5124 πρασσω ^G4238 ^G5719 αλλ ^G235 ο ^G3739 μισω ^G3404 ^G5719 τουτο ^G5124 ποιω ^G4160 ^G5719	15	For that which^G3739 I am doing,^G2716 I do not understand;^G1097 for I am not practicing^G4238 what^G3739 I [would] like^G2309 to [do,] but I am doing^G4160 the very^G3778 thing^G3739 I hate.^G3404
ει ^G1487 δε ^G1161 ο ^G3739 ου ^G3756 θελω ^G2309 ^G5719 τουτο ^G5124 ποιω ^G4160 ^G5719 συμφημι ^G4852 ^G5748 τω ^G3588 νομω ^G3551 οτι ^G3754 καλος ^G2570	16	But if^G1487 I do^G4160 the very^G3778 thing^G3778 I do not wish^G2309 [to do], I agree^G4852 with the Law,^G3551 [confessing] that it is good.^G2570
νυνι ^G3570 δε ^G1161 ουκετι ^G3765 εγω ^G1473 κατεργαζομαι ^G2716 ^G5736 αυτο ^G846 αλλ ^G235 η ^G3588 οικουσα ^G3611 ^G5723 εν ^G1722 εμοι ^G1698 αμαρτια ^G266	17	So^G1161 now,^G3570 no^G3765 longer^G3765 am I the one doing^G2716 it, but sin^G266 which indwells^G1774 me.
οιδα ^G1492 ^G5758 γαρ ^G1063 οτι ^G3754 ουκ ^G3756 οικει ^G3611 ^G5719 εν ^G1722 εμοι ^G1698 τουτ ^G5124 εστιν ^G2076 ^G5748 εν ^G1722 τη ^G3588 σαρκι ^G4561 μου ^G3450 αγαθον ^G18 το ^G3588 γαρ ^G1063 θελειν ^G2309 ^G5721 παρακειται ^G3873 ^G5736 μοι ^G3427 το ^G3588 δε ^G1161 κατεργαζεσθαι ^G2716 ^G5738 το ^G3588 καλον ^G2570 ουχ ^G3756 ευρισκω ^G2147 ^G5719	18	For I know^G3609 that nothing^G3756 good^G18 dwells^G3611 in me, that is, in my flesh;^G4561 for the wishing^G2309 is present^G3873 in me, but the doing^G2716 of the good^G2570 [is] not.
ου ^G3756 γαρ ^G1063 ο ^G3739 θελω ^G2309 ^G5719 ποιω ^G4160 ^G5719 αγαθον ^G18 αλλ ^G235 ο ^G3739 ου ^G3756 θελω ^G2309 ^G5719 κακον ^G2556 τουτο ^G5124 πρασσω ^G4238 ^G5719	19	For the good^G18 that I wish,^G2309 I do not do;^G4160 but I practice^G4238 the very^G3778 evil^G2556 that I do not wish.^G2309
ει ^G1487 δε ^G1161 ο ^G3739 ου ^G3756 θελω ^G2309 ^G5719 εγω ^G1473 τουτο ^G5124 ποιω ^G4160 ^G5719 ουκετι ^G3765 εγω ^G1473 κατεργαζομαι ^G2716 ^G5736 αυτο ^G846 αλλ ^G235 η ^G3588 οικουσα ^G3611 ^G5723 εν ^G1722 εμοι ^G1698 αμαρτια ^G266	20	But if^G1487 I am doing^G4160 the very^G3778 thing^G3778 I do not wish,^G2309 I am no^G3765 longer^G3765 the one doing^G2716 it, but sin^G266 which dwells^G3611 in me.
ευρισκω ^G2147 ^G5719 αρα ^G686 τον ^G3588 νομον ^G3551 τω ^G3588 θελοντι ^G2309 ^G5723 εμοι ^G1698 ποιειν ^G4160 ^G5721 το ^G3588 καλον ^G2570 οτι ^G3754 εμοι ^G1698 το ^G3588 κακον ^G2556 παρακειται ^G3873 ^G5736	21	I find^G2147 then^G686 the principle^G3551 that evil^G2556 is present^G3873 in me, the one who wishes^G2309 to do^G4160 good.^G2570
συνηδομαι ^G4913 ^G5736 γαρ ^G1063 τω ^G3588 νομω ^G3551 του ^G3588 θεου ^G2316 κατα ^G2596 τον ^G3588 εσω ^G2080 ανθρωπον ^G444	22	For I joyfully^G4913 concur^G4913 with the law^G3551 of God^G2316 in the inner^G2080 man,^G444
βλεπω ^G991 ^G5719 δε ^G1161 ετερον ^G2087 νομον ^G3551 εν ^G1722 τοις ^G3588 μελεσιν ^G3196 μου ^G3450 αντιστρατευομενον ^G497 ^G5740 τω ^G3588 νομω ^G3551 του ^G3588 νοος ^G3563 μου ^G3450 και ^G2532 αιχμαλωτιζοντα ^G163 ^G5723 με ^G3165 τω ^G3588 νομω ^G3551 της ^G3588 αμαρτιας ^G266 τω ^G3588 οντι ^G5607 ^G5752 εν ^G1722 τοις ^G3588 μελεσιν ^G3196 μου ^G3450	23	but I see^G991 a different^G2087 law^G3551 in the members^G3196 of my body, waging^G497 war^G497 against^G497 the law^G3551 of my mind,^G3563 and making^G163 me a prisoner^G163 of the law^G3551 of sin^G266 which is in my members.^G3196
ταλαιπωρος ^G5005 εγω ^G1473 ανθρωπος ^G444 τις ^G5101 με ^G3165 ρυσεται ^G4506 ^G5695 εκ ^G1537 του ^G3588 σωματος ^G4983 του ^G3588 θανατου ^G2288 τουτου ^G5127	24	Wretched^G5005 man^G444 that I am! Who^G5101 will set^G4506 me free^G4506 from the body^G4983 of this^G3778 death^G2288?
