The state of Israel is divided into 6 districts (heb. מחוז‎, mahoz), 15 Sub-districts (heb. נפה‎, Nafa) and 50 natural regions. This number includes and around the Golan Heights (4 regions), unrecognized by the UN in the territory of Israel.

The territories of Palestinian Autonomy (Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria) are not included in the number of Israel.

For statistical purposes, Israel is divided into three metropolitan countries: Tel Aviv and Gush Dan (population 3.15 million people), Haifa (996 thousand people) and Beer Sheva (531,600).

The largest Israeli city, both in population and in area, is Jerusalem with 732,100 inhabitants and an area of ​​126 km². Tel Aviv, Haifa and Rishon Lezion are located in the following locations with a population of 384,600, 267,000 and 222,300 residents respectively.
